                               CAHON Mission Statement

Founded by Chinese American Hematologists and Oncologists in 2005, the primary missions of CAHON are to foster communications amongst Chinese American medical professionals for the delivery of high-quality health care to patients with neoplastic and hematological diseases, and to promote medical information exchange between the United States and China in the field of hematology and oncology. CAHON strives to serve as a bridge among its members and between Chinese and American Hematology-Oncology communities for medical and educational exchange.

The CAHON Foundation

Dear CAHON Friends:

The Foundation of the Chinese American Hematologist and Oncologist Network (CAHON Foundation) is dedicated to advancing research and education among Chinese American medical professionals, and promoting information exchange of clinical practice between the United States and China in the field of oncology and hematology.

The Foundation's charitable mission is to build a platform for those, both medical and other professionals, to form a common ground in improving the lives of people with cancer and hematological diseases. The Chinese American medical professionals of the CAHON are not only superb clinicians, but also medical scientists who are in the forefront of research and development in oncology and hematology. They therefore have a unique role in facilitating this process and bridging the gap between research and clinical practice.

Through programs that support research and education in oncology and hematology, the Foundation will be a driving force for the delivery of high-quality health care to patients in the United States and China.

History & Milestones:

  • 12/1999 Began informal group meetings by some Chinese American Hematologists and Oncologists (CAHOs) at the ASH and ASCO annual meeting.
  • 2/2004 A 23 member CAHON Organizing Committee formed The Open Letter from Organizing Committee sent outThe CAHON inaugural member meeting at 2005 ASCO.
  • 5/2005 CAHON president and president-elect nominatedNine founding organizers started to draft the Bylaws and form the Board of Directors accordingly in consultation with CAHON business and legal advisors.
  • 11/2005 The Executive Committee appointed by the CAHON President, and the Board of Directors announced to its members.The CAHON Bylaws, the founding Board Chair and Chair-elect, the founding President and President-elect formally approved by the Board.
  • 12/2005 The inaugural CAHON reception at 2005 ASH for its members and guests invited from US and Chinese hematology and oncology communities.
  • 10/2008  The CAHON Foundation was approved by the CAHON Board and established in 10/2009.
